Prior to Christmas we commenced on the main site with erecting the fencing, this will mark the boundary between our construction works and the remaining common. Our contractor, Farrans, have sub-contracted this work to a local contractor; further demonstrating the project’s commitment to utilising local services wherever possible. As is usual for civil engineering companies, Farrans shutdown over the Christmas period for two weeks. They returned to site on 8th January 2018, and works will start to get going this week (week commencing 15th January 2018). We are anticipating that the first items of plant will be delivered early in the week with stone deliveries commencing later in the week. Works to construct the first sections of access track and associated drainage features will begin alongside the delivery of materials. As work progresses Farrans will also construct a compound adjacent to the track and set-up the welfare facilities, parking and material storage.

Mynydd y Gwair Wind Farm
To Whom it may concern,
Innogy Renewables UK Limited is aware that the Mynydd y Gwair wind farm construction site has been accessed by unauthorised individuals on a number of occasions. As an organisation we do not oppose Individuals or groups who wish to express their political or environmental views providing that they do this in a manner that is peaceful, lawful and does not present a danger to themselves or others.
We wanted to take this opportunity to highlight that accessing a construction site, even outside of working hours, poses a number of risks. Aside from the hazards created by construction works, the risks of injury from uneven ground, livestock, vehicle movements, farming activities and changeable weather can all be associated with the remote locations typically chosen for wind farms. Whilst Innogy and its contractors will always try to ensure that a site is secure and no significant hazards remain it is not always possible to eliminate all of the sources of risk.
We strongly advise that no-one accesses any construction site without the prior consent of the organisation responsible for that site. It is worth noting that the land to be utilised for the construction of the wind farm is no longer designated as Common Land in accordance with the Orders made under the Commons Act 2006 and as such the access provisions granted by the Countryside Rights of Way Act do not apply.
If you have any queries I trust that you will not hesitate to contact me.
For and on behalf of Innogy Renewables UK Limited.
