Mynydd y Gwair Wind Farm

To Whom it may concern,
Innogy Renewables UK Limited is aware that the Mynydd y Gwair wind farm construction site has been accessed by unauthorised individuals on a number of occasions. As an organisation we do not oppose Individuals or groups who wish to express their political or environmental views providing that they do this in a manner that is peaceful, lawful and does not present a danger to themselves or others.
We wanted to take this opportunity to highlight that accessing a construction site, even outside of working hours, poses a number of risks. Aside from the hazards created by construction works, the risks of injury from uneven ground, livestock, vehicle movements, farming activities and changeable weather can all be associated with the remote locations typically chosen for wind farms. Whilst Innogy and its contractors will always try to ensure that a site is secure and no significant hazards remain it is not always possible to eliminate all of the sources of risk.
We strongly advise that no-one accesses any construction site without the prior consent of the organisation responsible for that site. It is worth noting that the land to be utilised for the construction of the wind farm is no longer designated as Common Land in accordance with the Orders made under the Commons Act 2006 and as such the access provisions granted by the Countryside Rights of Way Act do not apply.
If you have any queries I trust that you will not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
Tim James
For and on behalf of Innogy Renewables UK Limited.
